Consulting

Center For Advantage consults on issues of strategy worldwide.  The Center For Advantage core competency revolves around how to make the complex easy to understand and use.  The book Understanding Sun Tzu on the Art of War, now in use at the National Defense University and the U.S. Naval War College, serves as a showcase for that competency.

How to make the complex easy to understand:

Robert Cantrell's book, Understanding Sun Tzu on the Art of War, applies Gödel's mathematical proof that shows you cannot explain a system in context with itself.    A system can only be explained in context with another system.

To understand what this means, take the system of words as an example.  You cannot effectively explain the concept of words unless you put the system of words into context with the system of sentences above words and the system of letters below words.  In Understanding Sun Tzu on the Art of War, Sun Tzu's Art of War, as a system, takes a position in between the higher system of Taoist philosophy, from which Sun Tzu derived his ideas, and a lower system of six strategic principles the author derived from Sun Tzu's Art of War.  The end result is the clearest possible interpretation of Sun Tzu's Art of War.

A key part of the Center For Advantage methodology is to put your processes and strategies into context with the system above them and a system below them.  The end result is a high degree of clarity about who you are and what you do as an organization and what you need to do to succeed.  This in turn allows you to produce stunningly effective and efficient strategies for winning.
